Window to Korea Project

Purpose of the Project

To help enhance the understanding of and interest in Korea by donating Korean-related materials to the chosen libraries around the world.

Expected Effects

- Strengthening the public relations and the access of the Korean publications.
- Creating a Korean study base.
- Promoting mutual cooperation with the supported libraries.
- Improving the National Assembly Library (NAL)'s status.

Progress

- First phase (2008-2012)
Targeted Asian libraries (under the name "Book Donation Project to Asian Countries").
Selected and provided books related to Korean politics, economics, society, history, culture, and science and     technology.
Sent a total of 11,565 books to five libraries, including the National Central Library of Taiwan, for five years.
- Second phase (2013-2017)
Provide support to five additional libraries according to the results of the demand survey conducted by NAL.
Change its name to "Window to Korea" due to the expansion of the supported libraries from those in the Asian     countries alone to those in several countries worldwide.
Add non-book materials to introduce the Korean culture through various media.
Send a list of gift-to-be materials in advance to meet the information demands of the supported libraries.
