Classification

All materials are classified according to the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) 22nd ed., with the exception of Korean and other Asian materials, which are classified according to the 2005 edition of the “Orient Related Detail Classification”, an expansive classification table compiled by the National Assembly Library.

Book numbers follow the accession numbers. With regard to reference materials (R), parliamentary materials (A), legal materials (L), old and rare books (OL, OD, VB), and children’s books (C), the Author Table devised by Lee Chun Hee is used for Asian authors, while the Cutter Sanborn Three-Figure Author Table is used for Western authors.

Cataloging

Domestic and Asian books follow the KORMARC based on the Korean Cataloging Rules (KCR4).

Western books follow the MARC21 based on the Resource Description and Access (RDA).
